Electrification and Hybridization Brings Additional Lubricant Requirements

Lubrizol says many performance aspects will stay the same, but more factors such as thermal management and conductivity will need to be considered.

On  this week’s episode of OEM Industry Update, editor Sara Jensen speaks with Scott  Halley, Director, Strategic Technology, Lubrizol Additives and Gareth Fish,  Technical Fellow, Industrial Additives, PhD, DIC, BSc (Hons), ARCS, CSci, CLS,  GLGS about the impacts hybrid and electric vehicles are having on lubricants  and greases. While many performance parameters for lubricants will remain,   aspects such as material compatibility, thermal management and conductivity  will now need to be taken into further consideration.
